A guide to tracking, managing, and resolving your 404 errors with Easy Redirects.

404 management is a premium feature available on the $10/month plan. Upgrade from within your app today to benefit from it.

A 404 error occurs when a URL is inactive in your domain. For example, links to deleted or disabled products. If these inactive URLs are visited (e.g., from old newsletters), the viewer will land on a 404 error page.

If you have recently installed Easy Redirects, there's no existing database of what URLs are resulting in 404s. The app will build this database and notify you of unresolved 404s over time as customers hit 404 pages on your domain.

Configuring your 404 Tracking Alerts

Easy Redirects Premium will send you regular email reports summarising your unresolved 404s. From the Settings page, you can change the frequency of these reports and configure additional warning emails if individual 404s have been hit more than a set threshold in a single day.

Make sure you enter a contact email that you regularly monitor so you don't miss important 404 warnings and updates.

Resolving your 404s

You can manage detected 404s from the Unresolved 404s page in your app. You can choose to ignore or fix each unresolved 404. You can also download the list of 404s using the provided button.

To fix a 404:

1. Enter a target URL to which you'd like users to be redirected.

2. Click on "Fix"

Any user that lands on the shown "path" URL will now be redirected to your chosen "target" URL instead of landing on a 404 error page. Follow our troubleshooting guide to make sure you configure the redirects correctly.

Want to automate your 404 redirects?

Premium plan users also have access to the "Redirect Patterns" feature. This means if someone hits a 404 page on your store and the URL matches a pattern you created, the app will redirect the visitor to a new pattern-matched URL. Click here to read more on how to use this feature.
