A guide to creating rules-based redirect patterns with Easy Redirects
How do Redirect Patterns work?
Redirect patterns allow you to use "wildcard tokens" (denoted by an asterisk *) in your path and target values to match particular URLs. It sounds complicated but this feature essentially allows you to redirect entire sections of your store or collections with a single redirect pattern, instead of creating individual simple redirects for each product.
Â
Let's see how they work with some examples:
In the first example, if a user hits a 404 page on your store matching the path structure (where * could be any product), they will be redirected to the new equivalent, pattern-matched URL for this product.
The second example is more complex as it uses two wildcard tokens but the logic is exactly the same.
If you add multiple wildcard tokens to your pattern they will be color coded to show you which tokens correspond to one another.
