Welcome to LoopedIn!

Before we jump into configuring the app, it's important to go over some of the key components to LoopedIn.

LoopedIn is made up of Workspaces. A Workspace can mean different things to different people. They could represent Products, Projects, Initiatives, Teams...anything really! Each Workspace is made up of the following components:

  1. Ideas

  2. Roadmaps

  3. Updates

  4. Feedback

  5. Articles

Not all components will be relevant for your use case, but when used together, this is the typical flow:

Note: Our user interface is continuously evolving and improving so the below screenshot may not represent the current view of the app today. Screenshot Last updated: March 2021

First time setup

Here are a few things we would recommend when setting up your app for the first time.

  1. Add your company branding

  2. Add custom categories and statuses

  3. Configure your public views

    1. Configure your Public Roadmap

    2. Configure your Widget

  4. Add your first Idea

  5. Add your first Roadmap card

  6. Add your first Update post

1. Add your company branding

You can add your company logo, fav icon and default app color by heading over to the Account settings page:

Next up, add your default app color and default font (Google web fonts supported). Your app color will apply to the menus, buttons, headers etc. Head over to the App settings page to configure this:

2. Add custom categories and statuses

Next up you can configure your own:

  1. Roadmap Objectives - these are used to group and categorize Roadmap cards

  2. Update Categories - these are used to group and categorize Update posts

  3. Idea Categories - these are used to group and categorize Ideas

For each of the above, you can specify default hex colors in order to match your brand colors:

3. Configure your public views

Public Roadmap

Your Public Roadmap is a public area that can be published as a direct link or can be embedded within your own websites. All Public Roadmaps have three core elements:

  1. Roadmap

  2. Updates

  3. Ideas

  4. Feedback

Each section can be switched on or off and can be customised in a number of ways to suit your needs. In order to customise your Public Roadmap, head over to the Public Roadmap embed settings, where you'll find the iFrame code to embed the Roadmap within your own websites, but also all configuration options:

Read more on how to configure your Public Roadmap.

Widget

There are currently two types of Widgets within LoopedIn: 1) Sidebar widget, 2) Popover widget. Both Widgets are a stream of your latest update posts which can be embedded within your website in the form of a pop-out side bar.

Both widgets have many customisation options:

Some of the key configuration options to look at include:
  1. Widget colors - set your own widget colors, in particular for the launcher icon and slide-out header color

  2. Launcher icon - replace the default bell icon with your own logo or icon

  3. Display logo - choose whether or not to display your logo within the slide-out bar

  4. Display reactions - enable users to react to your posts in the form of emojis

  5. Enable feedback - enable users to provide feedback on your posts

Head over to the Widget settings page for more information.

4. Add your first Idea

Navigate to the main Ideas page where you can add your first Idea:

By selecting the newly created Idea, you will be taken to its details page. From here you can edit the Idea further, as well as set various options, including whether or not the Idea should be visible on your Public Roadmap Ideas board:

Assuming the Idea is public, this will then be displayed on your Public Roadmap Ideas board where customers can begin voting, commenting and following the Idea:

5. Add your first Roadmap card

Roadmap cards can be added in two ways:

1. Create directly from the Roadmap

Navigate to the Roadmap page, select the "+" icon on one of the columns, and simply enter the title and objective (optional) to your new card:

2. Convert from an Idea

The second way to create a Roadmap card is to convert an Idea that you wish to take forward. Once an Idea has proved it's popularity through upvotes, you may want to push this to the Roadmap. To do that, select 'Push to Roadmap' from the Idea's detail page:

This opens a sidebar where you can set various options before publishing this to the Roadmap:

Once pushed, this Idea will now appear on the Roadmap, with the Idea linked to it:

6. Add your first Update post

Similar to Roadmap cards, Updates can be added in two ways:

1. Create directly from the Updates page

Navigate to the Updates page, select the "Add post" button and fill in the details of your first post:

Posts can be created in draft form, or they can be published immediately. When published, the Update post will be visible on your Public views and Widget. In the below example, we have initially published our first Update post in draft form:

Selecting the Update post opens a sidebar from where you can add more details, configure it's visibility as well as publish it to the world:

2. Convert from a Roadmap card

The second way to create an Update post is to convert a completed Roadmap card to an Update. Once a Roadmap card has been completed, you will be prompted whether or not you want to create an Update post based on this card:

Wrap Up

Phew, made it! We've just been through quite a lot there, and whilst this only represents a small subset of the features in LoopedIn, hopefully it gives you a flavour of how you can customize and use the app.
