If the blinds are cord operated, release the control cord from the cord safety device before attempting to remove your blinds.

Turn the vertical louvers to the “open” position and unhook the slats. Store flat, in a clean environment where they will not get creased.

If taking a number of different sets of louvers down from various windows, remember to paperclip a note to one of the louvers, detailing which window each set of louvers belongs to.

This will save you a lot of time when putting the louvers back up again!

Your vertical track will then be fixed up using either a face fix or top fix bracket.

If a face fix bracket has been used, then use a small screwdriver to loosen the grub screws at the front of the brackets.

Take care to hold onto the track with one hand as you undo the last grub screw so that the track doesn’t slip out of the brackets and fall to the floor.

If working on ladders or taking down a larger track, then two people should perform this task.

If a top fix bracket has been used, simply press the flat metal tab which is usually positioned out of sight behind the headrail.

This will release the bracket’s grip and the track can be twisted from the bracket.

Repeat this for all brackets, taking care to release the centre bracket (if fitted) last of all. To put the blinds back up reverse the process.

HOMEFAIR HANDY HINT – when putting your fabric back up make sure that the carriers are positioned in the open position before hanging the louvers. This is firstly easier, but also prevents them from becoming “locked” in the closed position.
