Create long-term relationships with your customers by offering subscriptions in your post-purchase offers. When the shopper accepts your subscription offer, they will be charged for their initial purchase right away, while all recurring charges will be managed through your subscription app.

Setting Up Your Subscription Funnel Offer:

Once you have your products set up as subscriptions in 3rd-party apps, you can offer them as a post-purchase offer.

1) From the create/edit offer screen, under "Purchase Options," you will a drop down bars where you can select your offer purchase options:

If you offer a product that has both the one-time purchase option as well as the subscription option, you will have the option to select either the "One-time with subscription option" or the "Subscription only" option depending on your preference.

*PLEASE NOTE: It could take up to 5 minutes for the drop-down to appear after you set subscription settings in the 3rd party subscription app.

NEW: With the "One-time with subscription option", you now have the ability to default the offer to pre-select either the one-time offer OR the subscription offer:

2) Once you have selected the "One-time with subscription option" or the "Subscription only" option, you will notice that subscription components get added to your offer automatically:

3) You will need to update your text components manually to describe your offer as a subscription. When rearranging the components on the offer, we recommend you keep the pricing section in its default position, just above the offer buttons.

You can edit the display, shipping, and quantity options for your offer by visiting Subscription Settings in your Offer Editor.

By entering a link to your subscription policy into the Subscription Policy URL field, the link will also display on your offer as a part of the subscription description.

You can always review and edit the product subscription settings in Shopify. The "View In Shopify" link will take you directly to the appropriate page to edit your subscription product's settings.

*Important Note!*

When offering a subscription of a product your customer just bought, know that the subscription won't replace their initial purchase. This means your customers will receive two of the same product during the first month. We recommend making that clear to your customers on the post-purchase page by adding a message to clarify this.

Example: The customer has a pack of coffee in the cart and accepts the post-purchase subscription offer for 1 pack of coffee per month. An additional pack of coffee will be added to the initial order, so the customer will actually receive 2 x packs of coffee in the initial delivery (one for the original order and one for the subscription order).

Subscription Discounts:

NEW: We now offer the ability for you to add a one-time subscription discount for the first shipment! Recurring shipments afterwards will be charged at the price as set up in your subscription app.

To include a one-time subscription discount, click on the "Pricing" option when editing your offer and check off the "Introductory subscription discount" option:

 Please note:

  • Payment processors that you can use for post-purchase subscriptions are Shopify Payments, PayPal Express, and Authorize.net. This is a limitation on Shopify’s end. Be sure to check which payment processors are supported with your subscription app.

  • If you are using a payment processor that is not supported with post-purchase subscriptions, subscription offers will be skipped and will not display to your shoppers.

  • Shopify allows one accepted subscription per order. You can set as many subscription offers as you want, but once a subscription is added to the order, all subsequent subscription offers will be skipped and will not display to the shopper.

  • Subscriptions in CartHook Post Purchase Offers can be set on a product level, which includes all product variants. Setting up subscriptions per specific variant is currently not supported.

  • If the customer's checkout results in the creation of an order without a shipping address, then you can't add a subscription to the order using post-purchase. For example, a customer might have bought only digital products, which doesn't require a shipping address. Similarly, a customer might choose local pickup as their delivery method, which also doesn't require a shipping address.
