Redirect customers who have subscribed for restock notifications on old product listings to the new product page.

Don't let any pending restock notifications for a discontinued product go to waste. There's a reliable and easy way you can redirect your notified customers from the old app listing to the URL of the newest version of your product.

  1. First, you'll need to redirect the old URL to the new one. Install our free Easy Redirects app used by over 10,000 merchants, to be able to do this.

  2. From the Easy Redirects app, create a Simple Redirect. Input the old listing URL into the Redirect From field and the new listing URL into the Redirect To field.

  3. Go to the Shopify product page for the old listing.

  4. Remove the visibility of the old listing from your "Online Store" sales channel

  5. When you're ready to send your notifications, restock the product.
  6. If you have automatic notifications enabled, your restock notifications will be triggered within an hour or two. Alternatively, you can trigger notifications manually. When users visit the old product link contained in the restock notifications, they will be redirected to your new product link.

(Don't worry, even though you have set inventory to 1 unit for the old product, no customer will be able to purchase it because you have removed it from the online store channel).

  7. Check that your notifications have been sent from the Notifications page and click on the Sent tab in your Back in Stock app.

Note: If automatic notifications are enabled, it can take 1-2 hours for Back in Stock to perform an automated inventory check before your notifications will be triggered.

Congratulations, your redirect is complete! 🎉 When your customers receive a Back in Stock notification for an old product, the link in the notification will automatically redirect them to your new product listing.
